Using "we" or "I" just feels more formal.

This is a personal passion project and not affiliated with any company or organization, including Google, Discord, or Roblox. This page explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how it is used.

What We Collect

• Account data (when you create an account): If you sign up using the site’s account system (Firebase Authentication), the account provider may supply an email address, display name, and a unique Firebase UID. This is used to identify and authenticate your account.
• Discord data: If you connect a Discord account, we may store your Discord user ID, username, display name, and related OAuth data required to perform the login/linking flow (Discord tokens are never stored server-side except when explicitly required by a feature and are otherwise kept client-side or short-lived). Your Discord user ID is also collected if you submitted data via Discord bot.
• Content you submit: Information you voluntarily provide (for example via Google Forms, Discord forms, or direct submission) such as faction information, news articles, or other content you submit to the site.
• Technical metadata: Basic technical information automatically collected by Firebase, such as IP address, device type, and browser metadata. This is standard metadata for security and analytics and is not accessed directly by us at all.
• Local data: Data stored locally in your browser (for example, Discord OAuth state or tokens stored in LocalStorage) remains on your device and is not accessible to us unless you explicitly share it.
• Constellia Faction data (for opted-in factions): Statistical data about your faction in Constellia if your faction has opted in to automatic TFN data linking. This data includes statistics such as faction name, leader, member count (but not individual member names), description, and more.

When you click the "Enable Automatic TFN Data Linking" button on your faction's admin page in Constellia, Constellia sends certain faction data to The Faction Nexus (TFN) database. You may opt in or opt out at any time using that same button. If you opt out, TFN deletes all data we have for your faction, including peak member count. Constellia does not track peak member count, so that statistic cannot be recovered if you later opt back in.

The Constellia faction data TFN collects (and deletes on opt-out) includes:

• Timestamp of when you opted in
• Faction creation timestamp
• Roblox username of the faction creator
• Roblox user ID of the current faction owner (and therefore enabling TFN to look up the username)
• Faction name
• Faction tag
• In-game description
• Roblox asset ID of the faction's insignia
• Current member count
• Peak member count since the last opt-in
• Current faction status (active, disbanded, or moderated)
• Faction identifier (i.e. Prima Constellatio_7JO285N2hD2)
• Timestamp of the last update to this data

If a faction linked to TFN is deleted (either disbanded or moderated) while linked, its data will be archived. Archived faction data cannot be removed from TFN's database without contacting the database administrator (@zytronium on Discord) or emailing DataReaper@thefactionnexus.tech and proving you were the faction's leader an authorized representative at the time of deletion.

The Faction Nexus reserves the right to collect additional faction data that Constellia may provide TFN with in the future. If this ever happens, TFN will update this privacy policy accordingly, but is not obligated to directly contact leaders or representatives of opted-in factions about the change. However, it is likely that the change will be announced on the Faction Nexus Discord.

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used to provide and maintain site features, verify account ownership, associate submitted content with you, and to help resolve abuse or technical issues. Specifically:

• Authentication and account management (e.g., sign-in, password resets, and linking Discord accounts).
• Attribution of content you submit (so you can manage or remove your own submissions).
• Technical diagnostics and abuse prevention (e.g., detecting suspicious activity, preventing spam, or responding to security incidents).

No personal data is sold, shared, or used for advertising.

About Email Addresses & Admin Access

If you create an account using the Firebase Authentication system (normal email and password login/signup flow), your email address will be stored in Firebase Auth so the authentication system can work (for example, to send password-reset links). As the site administrator, I can view the email addresses associated with accounts in the Firebase console. However:

• I will not casually inspect or browse users' email addresses.
• I will only access an email address if it is necessary for account support, abuse investigations, or compliance with law (for example, responding to a reported issue where the email is needed to identify the account involved).
• If I ever do access email addresses, I will treat them as confidential and will not share them or use them for marketing or any other purpose.

If you are uncomfortable knowing this fact, you should know that this is no different from most other services like Discord or Roblox. This is required in order to provide account support.

Third-Party Services

• Firebase (Google): Used for authentication and Firestore database storage. Firebase may collect technical metadata. See Firebase Privacy Policy.
• Google Forms: Used for faction submission, support tickets, and Discord mod / web developer applications. See Google Privacy Policy.
• Discord: Used for linking account with Discord (optional) and form submissions via Discord bot. See Discord Privacy Policy.

Security

We take reasonable technical and administrative measures to protect the information stored on this site. This includes using Firebase’s security, restricting access to the admin console, and following good security practices (encrypted connections, least-privilege access, and server-side validation). However, no online service is 100% secure — if you notice suspicious activity related to your account, contact us immediately.

Retention & Deletion

We retain account and submission data for as long as necessary to provide services and to comply with legal obligations. If you wish to delete your account or any data associated with you (for example, content tied to your Discord ID or account), contact us at the address below, and we will remove your data as promptly as possible (subject to legal or operational constraints). For Constellia factions, the data is removed instantly (or in under 2 minutes, assuming the server is operational) upon clicking the "Disable Automatic TFN Data Linking" button on the faction's admin page. If this fails, you can contact the database's administrator (@zytronium on Discord) or email DataReaper@thefactionnexus.tech.

If the developer of Constellia decides they no longer want Constellia to support automatic TFN data linking, an agreement will be made about what happens to the data once support is ended. If this means all TFN's Constellia data is to be deleted, we will comply. (However, this scenario is highly unlikely, and you should not worry about it.)

Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. To request changes or deletion, contact us at DataReaper@thefactionnexus.tech. Send the email from the address associated with the account and include a short note about what you want done.
